Inuyama-City Museum Meiji-Mura
A real time machine back into the Meiji period
The Meiji-Mura open-air museum is made up of more than 60 historical buildings, moved to the current location and preserved on display to the public. Architect Yoshiro Taniguchi and then president of Nagoya Railroad Moto'o Tsuchikawa wanted to preserve at all costs the precious historic structures of the Meiji period as they were fading away, and worked together to open an economically beneficial museum in 1965. The museum rang in its 50th anniversary in 2015.
