One of the three strange festival of the Owari region, Kinekosa Festival takes place every January 17 on the lunar calendar and constitutes prayers for a bountiful harvest, peace on Earth, and protection against evil—the last being known for its miraculous efficiency.
Twelve men known as "Yakusha" act as the main drivers of the festival and abstain from meat and fish as a form of purification for three days inside the shrine office until the festival day.
