The Lake and Marshes of Aburagafuchi (Aburagafuchi Kosho) is the largest of such geographical features in Aichi Prefecture. Within the park located in its northernmost area, covering an area of about 18,000 square-meters, lies a garden that is home to about 13,000 Hana-Shobu Iris, symbol flower of the city. The garden includes 80 species of the delicate flowers that have made the city famous for its beauty.
Annually from late May to mid-June the Hana-Shobu Iris Festival, one of the major events of the city, is held with events such as a sketching competition, public access to Oninji Temple's main building, and an Instagram photo contest. During the evenings until 9:00 PM artificial illumination turns the place into a fantastic sightseeing spot.
